8 Wedding Expenses You are Definitely Allowed to Splurge On

Weddings aren’t always the cheapest events, but you only get to do this once, so there are a few items you can spend a little extra on. Your budget may not allow you to splurge on all the items on this list, but if you are going to spend more on something, pick it from this list:

  1. The venue. This is going to set the tone for your entire day, so if you really love a venue that has some extras like specific décor or a beautiful ballroom, go for it! Plus, a venue with extras might end up saving you some money further down the line.
  2. The Photographer. Your wedding photos are what you will treasure for years after your big day, so pick a photographer you love. Not spending enough on a photographer could leave you with poor-quality photos that you won’t be able to redo.
  3. The Wedding Planner. If you just know that you’re going to be a giant ball of stress the month before your wedding, rather hire the planner who is going to get things done without bothering you.
  4. The Hair Stylist & Make-Up Artist. You have your dream dress, now you deserve to look the part. When you work with a hair stylist and make-up artist that you love, it will instantly change how confident you feel – you’re worth it.
  5. The Caterer. Guests will remember what they ate at a wedding before they remember what flowers were on the table. Plus, guests who have had a good meal are happy guests, so if you find an amazing catering company, spend that extra budget.
  6. The Lighting. Lighting can change the entire mood of a room, so if there are certain areas that you feel would benefit from additional lighting, get it. In fact, lighting can make up a large portion of your décor if you do it right – you may want to get a professional to help you here.
  7. The Entertainment. When the entertainment is good, your guests will remember your wedding forever. If you’ve always pictured having a band or a pianist at your wedding, do it! Even spending extra on a really good DJ will make a massive difference to the day.
  8. The Honeymoon. Once all the wedding hype is over, you deserve to spend some quality time celebrating with your partner. Take the time to pick a honeymoon that you both love and can’t wait to enjoy, even if it means you spend a little extra. You only get your first honeymoon once.

While these items all deserve some extra budget, ideally, you don’t want to end up in debt after you’re hitched, so spend carefully.
