Photographers, welcome! This page is where you can find some fun and helpful resources including whats in my bag, tips and tricks as a photographer, behind the scenes of what I do, mentorship information and more!
I started shooting weddings at 16-years-old for an associate photography company as one of their “third shooters” for free just to gain experience. The owner of the company would give me feedback on my photos and eventually I worked my way up to a paid second photographer, then a lead photographer and eventually photographed the owners wedding. From there I studied journalism at The University of Washington while shooting weddings per year for $1000. Upon graduation my heart was still in photography and shortly after getting married quit my job to pursue photography full time. In the past 8 years of being full time wedding photographer we have grown massively with me shooting 40 weddings per year, have grown to a six-figure business and now have three associate photographers shooting under our brand. Having shot over 300 weddings, trained multiple associate photographers and loved every moment of it I have a wealth of knowledge that I cannot wait to share with you during a Seattle Photography Mentorship!
This session has it all and walks you through everything you might want to learn from me. We go from start to finish! We will get together in person over coffee or drinks and chat for a bit. I’ll have prepared content to go through with you and you can pick my brain with all your questions along the way! From there we will go photograph a real live couple together. Then we’ll head back to a coffee shop and debrief the shoot and look through the photos together. You'll see how I interact, direct, and make my clients comfortable. I'll coach & give you feedback as we go!
Topics can range from (but aren't limited to) attracting your dream client, social media marketing, preparing for a session, client communication, posing, editing, workflow, websites, SEO, pricing, blogging, programs & software etc. This mentorship DOES NOT include teaching basic use of your camera, taxes or contracts besides general advice for where to find someone qualified to give you that information.
Hosted in the Seattle/Tacoma areas.
These sessions are great for photographers who aren’t local or just want something a little less than a full blown 1:1 mentorship. It is a Q&A style Skype or in-person session where we can focus on whatever you want to know!
Topics can range anywhere from (but not limited to) posing, directing, finding good lighting, how to set expectations with your clients, email communication, social media marketing, websites, pricing, editing, finding your ideal client, etc.. You name it, we can talk about it.
Photograph a couple together with me (1 hour) add on to a “pick my brain session”.
Add on three 1 hour “check-in” Skype calls throughout the year. Want help throughout the year to check-in and make sure you are on the right path? More questions after the fact that you want help with? This is a great way to keep the momentum up after our initial mentorship! These are Q&A style sessions.
New releases are constantly happening and so its hard to stay up to date on the most recent great starter camera. I shoot Nikon, but there isn't a huge difference between Nikon and Canon these days unless you want to get super specific. The Canon Rebel line is usually their starter camera. And then the Nikon D5600 or Nikon D3500 would be my most recent recommendations. Or if you want mirrorless the Nikon Z6 or Sony a6000.
I recently switched to Pic-Time so I could have unlimited galleries for my clients.
I do have a specific few photographers that already come and shoot with me, but if you are interested shoot me a note and I will add you to my list! Unfortunately with all of the inquiries I get I cannot promise that we can make it happen.
Yes, I do! I use Evolve Edits.
I love getting coffee with other entrepreneurs but unfortunately do not have time to accommodate everyone! I've launched mentorship opportunities just for that reason so people can more easily have access to pick my brain if they want!
I shoot with Nikon gear. You can find a full list of gear here: "What's in my bag."
It is a Showit designed website on Wordpress. I purchased a template which I customized myself.
I use Sprout Studio and have for years! They have amazing customer service and are always adding new integrations. It especially works well with Associate teams.
I did the basic film photography classes in college but then went on to major in journalism. I started out as an associate photographer and had lots of people review my photos and help me along the way. Mostly I am self taught and things like Google and CreativeLive were super helpful along the way!
I do not! This to me is something super personal based off of the story of the couple. I work closely with my couples to make them the perfect album design.
