One of the most commonly asked questions that I get when starting to help my clients with their wedding day timeline is, “should we do a first look?”  And then of course another stream of questions to fully understands it! Today I want to address some of those questions for you!

What is a first look?
A first look is when a bride and groom see each other before the ceremony.

Why do people do a first look?
There are several reasons for why people do a first look! Most often couples want more time to take photos and also so their guests don’t have to wait after the ceremony.  Another reason is sometimes people get nervous and it helps to see one another in advance to relieve those nerves.  Another reason which is one I love is so that you can have some intimate moments together when you first see each other!

What are the benefits of a first look?
More time! We are not under a time crunch so you can spend a good ten minutes together and enjoy first seeing each other on your wedding day. Your groom can tell you how beautiful you look and spin you around which you can’t normally do at the alter. It also enables more time for photography so we can go to different locations or simply spend more time together shooting. And your guests are not left waiting after the ceremony!

What are the downsides of a first look?
It is not that traditional moment when the groom sees the bride come up then aisle.  But we can definitely create that special moment for you as well.
