Why Hydration is Essential for Brides & Tips to Make it Easy

You already know how important it is to drink enough water on the average day. Unfortunately, this is one simple thing that brides tend to forget about on the day of their wedding!

Yes, you’re dying to pop some champagne and get the celebrations going, but here’s why staying hydrated should be a top priority on your big day:

  • If you’ve ever been dehydrated, you will know how awful it is. The headache, fatigue, and dizziness that accompanies dehydration should be enough to convince you to keep the water coming. Pairing dehydration with alcohol will only make these symptoms far worse, which could ruin your wedding day!
  • Then there’s the effect it has on your skin. If you want your skin to look healthy and your eyes to shine in your photos, you need to stay hydrated. In fact, it’s essential to drink enough water in the week leading up to your wedding, not just on the day, if you want your skin to benefit. Your makeup artist will thank you for it too.

As a bride, you want to be able to enjoy your day from start to finish. By keeping your hydration levels up, you’ll also feel a lot better the next day if you keep drinking water in between the champagne and wine.

To make it easier to remember to keep drinking water, here are some basic tips:

  • Rope in your bridal party. Tell your bridal party about your efforts to stay hydrated so they can keep you on track. You can even assign this task to a specific person if you really want to.
  • Add sparkling water to the mimosas. If you’re planning to have a few mimosas while you’re getting ready, add a bit of sparkling water or a few ice cubes to the orange juice.
  • Drink one for one. For every cocktail or glass of wine you drink, have a glass of water. You can even keep a glass of water in one hand when you have a drink in the other as a reminder.
  • Make it fruity. If you want something a little different during the day, you can also add some fruit into your water or swap it out for coconut water. You may even want to keep some Gatorade on hand just in case.
  • Use an app. There are a number of great apps that will remind you to drink water throughout the day, or at least when you’re getting ready! If you want to make staying hydrated even easier, make it a habit in the months and weeks leading up to your big day. It doesn’t matter how you do it, just make it a priority on your wedding day.
