There are so many important photos that need to be captured on a wedding day and the list may vary for every person because certain details or moments may be more important to you than someone else. Today I am sharing a list of what I personally think are some of the most important moments on a wedding day! The list could probably go on for ages, so I tried to limit it to the most common aspects of a wedding day. All photos included are by Rebecca Anne Photography.
Bride getting ready
These are some of my favorite moments of the wedding day where the anticipating and excitement is building but then there is a certain calm that comes over everyone as the last button or zipper is closed on the wedding dress.
Getting ready details
You spent so much time painstakingly picking out the perfect details to go with your dress and they deserve to have their moment in the sun!
The Dress
Yes, there will be about a thousand images of you wearing your dress, but it also deserves to have its own special portrait.
Groom getting ready
I always love the masculine details of the groom and his guys getting ready. It is so casual and fun in its own unique way.
A Mother & Daughter Moment
I always think this is such a special time when mom is helping zip up the dress or clasp on the family heirloom jewelry. Its a moment you’ve both been waiting for and it should be remembered.
The rings
Who doesn’t love a beautiful shot of the bling?!
Invitations
This is a detail that often gets forgotten on the wedding day. I ask my clients to either send me one or bring a copy with them on their wedding day. Most likely a lot of time and effort went into their design and it is a fun, unique detail to capture and remember.
Bridal portrait
Your dream dress, the perfect hair and make up, and the anticipation to see your groom all put together into the perfect picture.
Groom portrait
He look’s so dapper, doesn’t he? Why shouldn’t he get his moment too?
Bridal bouquet
I adore flowers. They have so much depth and creativity and you probably spent quite some time dreaming up that beautiful bouquet that will accompany you down the aisle.
Boutineer
Just like you need your man, your bouquet needs a partner to stand next to it in your album too!
First look
The wedding day goes by so fast that sometimes it is easy to forget some of our favorite moments and this is definitely one of them.
Formal traditional portrait
Mom and Grandma will want a beautiful portrait of you two to blow up on their wall! And of course you want a traditional photo to help you remember just exactly how you both looked on this special day.
Wide epic portrait
Personally, the wide epic portrait is my favorite shot of the day. It is the photo that I enlarged as a canvas on my wall and a statement piece in our home. It is also a great shot to have as the cover of your wedding album.
Parents first look
I love when timelines allow for a first look with mom or dad. The extra emotion that is allowed in an intimate moment before you are given away.
Groom first seeing the bride up the aisle
This is always the most anticipated moment of the day and it is for good reason as it is one of the best!
Dad giving her away
Another beautiful moment that deserves to be documented and remembered.
Exchange of rings or vows
Ceremony photos are always so fun and diverse with laughter, crying and maybe even a flower girl joining in on the exchange!
The Kiss
Simply, the best.
Bridal Party
I love bridal party photos, especially when we have a little extra fun!
Laughter
Don’t forget to relax, let loose and laugh with your attendants!
Ring Bearer
He is just so darn cute!
Flower Girls
I love those fluffy dresses and playful smiles.
Family formals
These are the photos that will be in frames throughout your families homes and often weddings are some of the only times your family gathers together in this way! Make sure you allow for enough time for all the family portraits you want.
Unique details
I love when clients personalize their wedding with unique details and try to capture them in a fun way!
Reception decor
You spent so many hours pinning photos on Pinterest and dreaming up what your reception should look like and it is finally here and is stunning! Let’s make sure it gets documented so you can remember it forever.
The cake
Because it doesn’t just taste yummy, but it looks yummy too!
Intimate moments
Take some time to have a few intimate moments with your honey and take it all in together. Remember how the day felt, the excitement, the love, the anticipation and the joy.
The first dance
This dance is going to fly by and so you’ll want photos to remember the moments!
Father/daughter dance
Always such an intimate and emotional moment.
Toasts
I love the emotions often evoked during the toasts with both funny and emotional memories.
Sunset
Don’t forget to plan to head out and capture a little bit of that golden light!
The grand exit
The perfect finish to your day!
