Twin Willows Gardens Spring Wedding // Ashley and Alex

Alex and Ashley’s Twin Willows Gardens Spring Wedding in Snohomish, Washington was one for the books! We lucked out with the most gorgeous day in May that would’ve made you think it was the summer. The gardens had gorgeous blooms and everyone as bursting with joy. Rebecca of New Creations weddings helped everything go off without a hitch and Bloomwood Floral had the most amazing flower installs throughout. Our afternoon started off with final touches for getting ready and then we were off to the races with the first look with the bride and groom.

What is a first look you ask? A first look is when we plan a time during the day before the ceremony for the bride and groom to see one another for the first time. This is an alternative to seeing each other for the first time when the bride walks down the aisle. People do this for many reasons including just wanting a few private first moments together, being able to spend more time together on their wedding day, getting to do all their formal photos before the ceremony so they can enjoy their cocktail hour and reception and also just have more time for photos as well!

We ended their couple portraits in the wooded cathedral where their ceremony site would be held and the wedding party joined us there for their formal photos followed by the formal family portraits as well. Then we hide the wedding party away for their grand entrance into the ceremony. Their ceremony was simply and beautiful, as all ceremonies should be but not without all the emotional moments of the day. Alex finally broke down and shed a few tears as his beautiful bride walked down the aisle towards him.

Cocktail hour is always a must if you want to enjoy just a little bit more time with your guests and get some great standing candids with them! Ashley and Alex slide in to enjoy a few laughs and then had their official grand entrance into dinner followed by toasts, cake and then we headed to the dance floor!

One of my favorite wedding day cheats is to create the illusion of a grand exit or end of the night shots instead of paying for your photographer to stay an additional 2-3 hours. And that is exactly what we did with their wedding party lined up in a grassy area with some sparklers! What a beautiful day and what an honor to get to document it.
